Site Engineer – Civil Engineering & Infrastructure
Location: West Ham, East London
Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 per annum
Employment Type: Permanent
Hours: Full-time, 45 hours per week

Overview:

Morson is recruiting on behalf of a leading civil engineering and infrastructure contractor with over four decades of experience across water, transport, energy, and the built environment sectors. The company operates as a Tier 1 delivery partner on major frameworks and standalone projects across the UK. Role Description:
We are seeking a Site Engineer to support the delivery of a high-profile civil engineering scheme in East London. The successful candidate will be responsible for site engineering duties including setting out, survey control, quality assurance, and contributing to the safe and efficient delivery of construction activities.

The initial project involves complex structural remediation works on bridges and trunk sewer barrels, currently in design phase. This presents an opportunity to be involved from early-stage planning through to delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

Establish and maintain level and survey control across site

Set out works in accordance with technical drawings

Ensure accurate and compliant record-keeping

Assist in the preparation of ITPs, RAMS, and short-term programmes

Maintain photographic records and site diaries

Promote a culture of health, safety, and environmental compliance

Ensure quality standards are met and support snag-free delivery

Liaise with stakeholders, including the project team and client representatives

About You – Essential:

Civil Engineering degree or HNC (or equivalent)

Experience in setting out on civil engineering projects

Proficient in the use of robotic total stations or EDM instruments

Good understanding of construction methods, health and safety, and legal compliance

Strong communication and organisational skills

Proactive and results-driven mindset

Desirable:

Experience with AutoCAD and MS Office

Temporary works coordination knowledge

CSCS card, cable avoidance training, first aid, NEBOSH or IOSH certifications

SMSTS qualification
