The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in structural project delivery, team leadership, and client relationship management.

Principal Structural Engineer Job Overview

Carry out structural design calculations for a range of residential and commercial projects
Lead and manage small project teams, mentoring junior engineers and technicians
Attend client meetings and site inspections across active project locations
Contribute to business development activities and assist in securing new projects
Ensure projects are delivered to technical, quality, and commercial expectations
Liaise closely with internal design teams, external consultants, and contractors
Work on both small-scale developments and larger high-value commercial projects

Principal Structural Engineer Job Requirements

Minimum 5 years' experience in structural engineering roles within the UK
Degree qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent)
Proficient in structural analysis/design software including Robot and Tedds
Strong understanding of UK building regulations and design codes
Proven leadership and mentoring capabilities within project environments
Excellent communication and client-facing skills
Full, valid UK driving licence
Experience working as an associate Structural Engineer or willingness to step up into the role

Principal Structural Engineer Salary & Benefits

Salary between £60,000 - £70,000 per annum, depending on experience
25 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays
