Job Title: Control System Design Engineer
Location: Woore CW3
Salary: £38,000 – £60,000 (depending on experience)
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Department: Electrical Design
About the Role:
We are seeking a talented and driven Control System Design Engineer to join our growing engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and commissioning control systems for a wide range of industrial and/or automation projects. This is a great opportunity for an engineer with a solid understanding of control principles and experience in PLC/HMI/SCADA systems.
Key Responsibilities:


  • Design and develop control systems, including PLC programming, HMI design, and SCADA configuration

  • Produce detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control panel layouts using CAD software

  • Work closely with project managers and clients to define technical requirements and system specifications

  • Configure and integrate industrial communication protocols (e.g. Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP)

  • Conduct FAT/SAT testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of control systems on-site

  • Maintain technical documentation and support the creation of user manuals and handover packs

  • Ensure all designs comply with relevant standards and safety regulations (e.g. BS EN (phone number removed)

Requirements:


  • Degree or HND in Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, or a related discipline

  • Proven experience in control system design and development

  • Proficient in PLC programming (e.g. Siemens, Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi, Schneider)

  • Experience with HMI/SCADA platforms (e.g. WinCC, FactoryTalk, iFIX, Wonderware)

  • Ability to read and create electrical schematics (AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN desirable)

  • Strong understanding of industrial automation, instrumentation, and motor control

  • Good communication and documentation skills

  • Willingness to travel occasionally for commissioning and site support

Desirable:


  • Experience with motion control or robotics

  • Familiarity with Industry 4.0 and IIoT concepts
