Controls and Automation Engineer
Salary: £50K - £60K
Location: Cambridge
An exciting opportunity has come up for a Controls/Automation Engineer to join a forward-thinking and fast-growing engineering firm at the forefront of automated palletising technology. The company specialises in a wide range of automation solutions, creating bespoke products for various industrial applications.
This role offers the chance to be directly involved in the development and commissioning of high-performance automation systems used across diverse industrial environments. You’ll work both on-site and in-house, contributing to projects that span the UK. The company prides itself on delivering exceptional service and tailored solutions, with a team that takes the time to understand and meet each customer’s unique needs.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement automation software, primarily using PLCs and structured text
  • Install and commission automated systems on customer sites
  • Integrate software and hardware components for custom automation solutions
  • Support the continuous improvement of systems and internal commissioning processes
    Skills & Experience Required:
  • PLC programming Experience (Beckhoff, Siemens)
  • Experience with IEC-(phone number removed) languages (Structured Text desired)
  • Good experience with robot programming (KUKA or similar platforms)
  • Good mechanical and electrical aptitude
  • Willingness to travel across the UK and stay away from home when required (expenses + overnight allowance)
  • App development skills in C++ or C# are beneficial but not essential
    Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Electrical training or qualifications (desirable)
  • Experience in creating electrical designs for automated machinery (desirable)
