Reports To: Head of Department / Head Teacher

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Engineering Teacher to inspire and educate students in the principles and applications of engineering. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering, excellent teaching skills, and a passion for guiding students in hands-on, project-based learning. This role includes curriculum development, instruction, and fostering a classroom environment that encourages critical thinking, collaboration, and innovation.

The school are expanding their DT Department due to recent increase in student numbers, including Key Stage 3&4 Engineering.

This post would suit any well-qualified and ambitious teacher of Engineering, including Early Career Teachers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging engineering lessons in accordance with the curriculum and standards.

  • Teach foundational engineering concepts such as design thinking, problem-solving, materials science, mechanical systems, electronics, and CAD software.

  • Incorporate real-world applications and project-based learning activities.

  • Guide students in the use of engineering tools and technologies, including lab equipment, 3D printers, and simulation software.

  • Develop and assess student learning through assignments, exams, and projects.

  • Maintain a safe and organised classroom and lab environment.

  • Foster student interest in engineering careers and STEM disciplines.

  • Collaborate with other faculty and staff to integrate interdisciplinary learning experiences.

  • Stay current with advancements in engineering education and emerging technologies.

    Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Education with a STEM focus, or a related field.

  • QTS, QTLS or relevant teaching qualifications

  • Demonstrated knowledge of engineering principles and instructional methods.

  • Strong communication, organizational, and classroom management skills

  • Previous teaching experience

  • Proficiency in CAD software, robotics platforms, or other engineering tools.

  • Experience with curriculum development and assessment design.
