About Our DT Department

Our Design & Technology Department is a hub of innovation and practical learning.     Your Role and Responsibilities

    As our Teacher of DT, you will:

  • Plan and deliver engaging and intellectually stimulating Design & Technology lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (GCSE), with opportunities to teach Key Stage 5 (A-Level).

  • Inspire a deep understanding of design principles, material properties, manufacturing processes, and contemporary design issues.

  • Utilise a variety of teaching methods to cater to diverse learning styles and abilities, fostering creativity, problem-solving, and practical skills.

  • Assess student progress rigorously, providing insightful feedback and contributing to student reports.

  • Contribute to the development of the DT curriculum and departmental resources, staying abreast of the latest industry trends and educational advancements.

  • Participate in and potentially lead extracurricular DT activities, such as design challenges, robotics clubs, or workshop sessions, enriching the learning experience.

  • Act as a form tutor and contribute positively to the wider life of the school community.

    What We're Looking For

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a strong academic background in Design & Technology or a closely related design/engineering discipline.

  • Proven experience teaching DT successfully across Key Stage 3 and 4 is essential, with A-Level experience being highly desirable.

  • A genuine passion for DT and a commitment to inspiring the next generation of designers, engineers, and innovators.

  • Excellent subject knowledge, with practical expertise in relevant workshops (e.g., wood, metal, plastics) and proficiency in CAD/CAM software.

  • A dynamic, adaptable, and innovative teaching style with strong classroom and workshop management skills.

  • A collaborative team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
