Our client offers innovative engineering solutions across several sectors including food & beverage, automotive, medical, rail to name but a few.  They work closely with their customers to resolve technical challenges and enhance efficient and productivity.  They require a remote based External Technical Sales Engineer responsible for visiting customers and generating sales of products and services within a geographical territory.  The sales process is often complex, technical, project-driven that equally involves commercial aspects and requires keen commercial awareness to be successful.

Main Duties

Arranging and making own teams meeting and customer site appointments
Winning business using all the sales tools and our partnership sales process
Learning continually new products, technical information
Preparing proposals and quotations
Online and in person meetings
Attending annual supplier sales conferences and training courses, which usually involve international travel and time away from home
Supporting and managing existing customers
Selling known machine solutions to existing customers
Working with the internal teams and supplier engineering teams identifying and developing new solutions
Identifying and developing new customer opportunities with support from internal teams and suppliers’ teams and by following up company generated leads & enquiries
Technical discussions with customers, colleagues, and suppliers
Working across a variety of industries (including food, plastics, beverages, robotics, Automotive, Chemical and Gas, medical, packaging, rail)

Skills and Knowledge

Solid technical engineering background with a genuinely enquiring mindset
A mechanical engineering qualification
A background in sales and business development or finding technical solutions for customers, whether that be internal sales or external sales
Confident, determined, and happy working from a home office environment (supported of course both remotely and in person)
Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
Independent but team spirited
Analytical and problem-solving skills
Diligent and Professional in approach with
Coachable, flexible & adaptable with a positive can-do attitude
Sound judgement and good business sense.
Able to prioritise and meet deadlines
