Field Service Engineer – Industrial Automation | North West UK
Type: Full-time, Permanent
Travel: UK-wide, with some overnight stays required
£38,000 - £40,000 – Additional £6,000 overtime allowance, Extensive Benefits Package, Bonus & Vehicle
At Perpetual Partnerships, we are proud to be working on behalf of one of the world’s most innovative providers of industrial assembly and tooling technologies. Our client is a global leader supporting sectors such as automotive, general industry, and advanced manufacturing—and they are seeking a Field Service Engineer to join their UK Service Team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a technically skilled and motivated engineer looking to work with industry-leading equipment and play a key role in the installation, commissioning, and support of complex systems. Experience with PLC systems and software integration is a key requirement for this role.
The Opportunity
You will:

  • Support the delivery of advanced tooling and joining solutions at customer sites
  • Work closely with project teams on system integration and commissioning
  • Configure and interface tools with customer PLC and control systems
  • Perform testing, calibration, and diagnostics of both mechanical and electrical systems
  • Deliver on-site support, maintenance, and fault-finding for production-critical equipment
  • Provide customer training and assist during pilot phases
  • Identify potential service upgrades and optimisation opportunities
    This role offers a high level of autonomy, variety, and the chance to work across a wide range of technologies and industry sectors.
    Who We’re Looking For
    ✔️ Technical Skills & Experience
  • HNC or equivalent in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering
  • Knowledge of power tools (pneumatic, battery, and DC), software systems, and network infrastructure
  • Solid experience with PLC systems and automated production lines
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or customer-facing service environment

  • Strong problem-solving ability with a proactive mindset
  • Good communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
  • Confident working independently on customer sites
  • Willingness to travel UK-wide and stay overnight as required
