An exciting opportunity has arisen at a forward-thinking independent school near Yeovil for an experienced and ambitious Head of Design Technology, to join and lead the department from September 2025. This is a full-time, permanent post ideal for a passionate DT specialist with leadership experience or a strong desire to step up.

The school is investing in its STEAM curriculum and is seeking a DT leader who can champion innovation, design thinking, and practical creativity. You will lead a team in delivering a stimulating curriculum across KS3–KS5, with a strong emphasis on product design, CAD/CAM, and eco-conscious innovation.

Key Responsibilities



Lead the strategic direction of the DT department, ensuring high standards and engagement

Teach KS3–KS5 DT including A-Level Product Design

*

Develop and maintain outstanding workshop environments and safe practice

*

Inspire students to enter competitions such as Arkwright, CREST, and Young Engineer

*

Contribute to cross-curricular initiatives with science, maths, and art

Candidate Profile

*

Degree in Product Design, Engineering, or related subject

*

QTS and several years of successful classroom practice

*

Confidence using Fusion360, laser cutting, 3D printing, electronics and systems design

*

Strong leadership and communication skills
