Lead Test Engineer (Embedded Software)

  • Hampshire based with 2-3 days remote working per week

  • £65,000 to £70,000 per year

  • Plus an excellent company benefits package

    The Opportunity:

    After a number of recent exciting tender wins, my client is on the lookout for a Lead Test Engineer to head up the development and improvement of their internal test strategies.

    The ideal candidate will come from a background in embedded software, with experience across system, regression, performance and stress testing.

    You’ll be working with a team developing cutting edge image processing products and be responsible for the overall system, regression, performance, stress and security testing operation.

    In this role, you will develop and improve test strategies with the support of the development engineers, with a focus of making the testing process more efficient to serve their overall needs.

    Skills and Experience:

  • 3+ years’ experience in testing embedded software

  • Familiarity with Jira and X-ray for test and defect management

  • Proficiency in Linux OS and Bash scripting.

  • Hands-on experience with scripting in Python

  • Able to read and understand C++ code

  • Any exposure to camera systems, computer vision or video encoders would be highly beneficial

    Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the creation and enhancement of test strategies

  • Analyse requirements, design, code, and deploy test scripts and frameworks to improve efficiency

  • Conduct system, regression, performance, stress, field and security testing

  • Investigate and debug issues, delivering detailed quality reports

  • Act as the escalation point for R&D, addressing support queries, triaging issues and providing expert insights
