As a result of our clients expansion plans, and continued ongoing success we are seeking a dynamic Logistics Operations Manager to be based at within a network of Distribution Centre.
This is an exciting opportunity to drive overall contribution to the business through partnering across Supply Chain DC and Transportation operations and optimising our processes. The role will raise performance levels, improve efficiencies and generate innovation into the network.
The purpose of this role is to partner with our 3PL operational teams to refine our planning accuracy, identify continuous improvement opportunities and scale deploying innovation across the network. The candidate will be a pivotal part of the leadership team in generating operational insight, being an expert in performance opportunities and helping improve decision making as we shape our network and drive performance contribution. The candidate will lead operational performance reviews, drive project /process improvements on site and communicate how to raise the bar in operational output.
This role will be based in a UK DC (Stowmarket, Avonmouth, Doncaster, Wakefield). There will be some requirement to travel to other UK DCs and Head Office in Plymouth as needed.
Responsibilities
Performance Management:

  • Lead operational performance reviews across internal teams and 3PLs, across key input and output measures.
  • Develop performance balanced scorecard across safety, people, cost, quality, customer metrics.
  • Own budget control and initiatives to remove inefficiencies and raise standards.
  • Define planning cycles to optimise capacity flow of product through the network.
  • Manage seasonality profiles such as store opening, seasonal launch activities and exit and promotional cycles.
    Operational Process SME:
  • Deploy lean operational process across DC and 3PL environments.
  • Drive consistency of operational processes across a network.
  • Analytical digest data and identify root cause and corrective actions.
  • Use of KANBAN or similar approach to prioritise and deploy change.
  • Work across stakeholders to define, measure and implement operational process changes.
    Stakeholder management:
  • Ability to hold reviews across internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experienced in implementing continuous improvement activity across network.
  • Proactively builds relations across a matrix organisation.
    Leadership:
  • High degree of verbal, written and visual communication.
  • Develop proactive and positive relations across internal and external stakeholder whilst also holding to account on deliverables.
  • Taking the business and Supply Chain strategy and deploying tactical decision making to achieve short-, medium- and long-term goals.
  • Self-starter with high degree of curiosity and willingness to learn.
    Person Specification
    Essential Skills and Experience:
  • Experience in Operational performance management. Experience in Lean operations. Proven ability to manage stakeholders, especially in a 3PL environment. Excellent oral, written and visual communication skills Organisational skills to succeed in a fast-paced environment and manage deadlines. Experience working in a laser focussed customer service environment. Self-starter with the curiosity to learn, intuition to deep dive and keen eye for detail. Self-solver with the confidence to work within ambiguity, ability to seek out creative solutions and remove barriers to provide solutions/options. Self-motivated with the resilience and ability to work under own initiative to achieve goals. Team player with ability to work proactively and positively across a diverse group. Experience hosting meetings and driving progress, holding others to account. Influencing and negotiating skills; experience leading senior leaders across multiple departments. Experienced in WMS processes and systems. Ability to travel to operational sites as required, with overnight stays where needed.
    Desirable Skills and Experience (not essential):
  • Experience of working within Retail/operational network of physical stores and online. Experience of warehouse and/or transport automation/robotics and digital operations. Experience in P&L responsibilities. Experience in Network design / Warehouse layout modelling. Six Sigma.
