Maintenance Engineer – Nights

Hours: 39 per week
Shift:

Sunday–Wednesday: 10pm–6am
Thursday: 10pm–5am
Pay: £21.88–£22.50 per hour

Role Overview

We are looking for a skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our night shift team. You will ensure the smooth operation of machinery and equipment through effective fault diagnosis, repairs, and preventative maintenance.

This role is crucial to minimising downtime, improving reliability, and ensuring the safety of people and processes.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance & Repairs

Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults.
Respond promptly to breakdowns and carry out planned preventative maintenance.
Fit new parts, overhaul components, and arrange replacements.
Maintain accurate maintenance records and report issues.
Performance & Reliability

Work towards site and departmental KPIs.
Support continuous improvement initiatives and promote best practice.
Monitor equipment trends to prevent recurring faults.
Safety & Compliance

Follow all safe working practices and relevant legislation.
Use hand tools, measuring equipment, and specialist instruments correctly.
Keep work areas clean, tidy, and safe at all times.
Collaboration

Liaise with internal departments and external contractors.
Keep production teams informed of maintenance progress.

Required Skills & Qualifications

NVQ Level 3 in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
17th Edition Electrical qualification.
Experience in one or more of the following:

Robot cells/welding cells
Plastic injection/extrusion
Press work
Rolling mills
PLC inputs/outputs
Hydraulics & pneumatics

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
Strong fault-finding skills in both mechanical and electrical systems.
MEWP licence desirable.
Able to work independently and as part of a team.
Flexible, proactive, and able to work under pressure.
