Our client, a leading engineering company in Derby, is looking to expand their engineering team. The right candidate will have previous experience in concept and detailed design, thermodynamic design, structural design, and a strong appreciation for general mechanical engineering. An understanding of acoustic engineering would also be of benefit.
As the new Mechanical Project Engineer, you will:

Report to the Engineering Manager, supporting pre- and post-contract design activities for engineered solutions in the Energy sector, including Renewable, Fossil Fuel, Hydrogen, Carbon Capture, and Waste-to-X.
Work independently and as part of a team through all stages of the project lifecycle, from concept design to delivery and commissioning.
Engage professionally with internal and external customers, suppliers, and stakeholders to meet engineering needs, ensuring on-time delivery and customer satisfaction.
Support the sales phase by preparing concept design sketches, calculations, and attending customer meetings in the UK and overseas.
Review and interprets customer requirements from specifications, drawings, or standards.
Perform detailed engineering calculations across structural, fluid dynamic, finite element analysis, and general mechanics disciplines, using software or hand methods.
Communicate design details to enable the production of manufacturing documentation.
Produce customer deliverables and documentation for product or supplier approvals.
Design products to budget while meeting customer requirements.
Assist in the creation of operation and maintenance manuals or instructions.
Conduct site surveys and condition assessments, producing technical reports and recommendations.
Provide ad-hoc technical support to internal and external customers.
Contribute to research and development to maintain and achieve market leadership.
Develop and promotes best practices within the design team, striving for continuous improvement.
Keep up to date with industry standards, design technology, and best practices.
Identify and implements new software tools to improve processes.
Support project management, engineering, quality, and supply chain teams as required, sometimes prioritising over primary duties.
Participate in broader business development activities beyond engineering.
Perform any reasonable task requested by management.  
Requirements for this role:
Essential

Engineering Qualification to HND level or equivalent
Experience of working in a mechanical design position/team
Experience of structural analysis using recognised software and first principles, working to international standards/codes (Eurocode, ASCE 7)
Good understanding of fabricated structures/components and manufacturing techniques
Able to work out of hours, when required to support customer needs
Full UK driving licence
Able to travel overseas
Current UK resident Desirable

A relevant Engineering Degree, preferably to 2:1 level or above
Experience of structural analysis using the Autodesk Robot software package
Pressure Vessel Design and experience of using relevant codes/standards
Experience of designing air handling/filtration systems
Experience of designing heat exchangers
Experience of performing acoustical calculations
Experience of thermo-fluid analysis using recognised software and first principles
Ability to interpret/create piping and instrumentation diagrams
Good understanding of fabricated components and manufacturing techniques
Familiarity with the requirements of ATEX, IEC and other hazardous area directives
Understanding of the Construction Design and Management regulation  
What you can expect in return:
