Production Engineer

Production Engineer (with wn vehicle) required for a 3-6 months job (potentially longer) between 2 locations: Derbyshire and Chesterfield.

Duties:

Supporting the transition from ad hoc repair of TFL assets to dedicated work-streams for repeat repairs and overhaul.

· Monitor and optimise production processes to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and ensure product quality.
· Collaborate with design and engineering teams to ensure manufacturability of new products.
· Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
· Analyse production data and generate reports to identify trends and areas for improvement.
· Troubleshoot equipment and process issues to minimise downtime.
· Implement lean manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
· Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
· Train and support production staff on new processes and equipment.Pay rate is £20 23 / ph. paid weekly PLUS holiday pay.

Must have:

· UK active clean driving license (up to 3-6 max points) and access to own vehicle essential
· Bachelor's degree in mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
· 2+ years of experience in a production or manufacturing environment.
· (Production or Manufacturing or Process Engineer- industry dependent)
· Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality control, and safety standards.
· Proficiency in CAD software and production planning tools (e.g., ERP systems). (Microsoft Project)
· Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
· Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
· Bring a practical approach to working collaboratively and 'hands-on' to assist with need of the project
Preferred Qualifications:

· Experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Kaizen methodologies.
· Familiarity with automation and robotics in manufacturing.
· Certification in PMP, Six Sigma, or similar is a plus.
Working Conditions:

· Primarily based in an engineering workshop environment.
· May require occasional evening or weekend work depending on production schedules.
· Some travel to other engineering locations in support of TFL contract, specifically but not limited to Greenford (London) and Bristol.
· Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. (All provided)
