Position : Senior Structural Design Engineer

Location : Sheffield, Rotherham, South Yorkshire

Salary : £40,000-£60,000 negotiable according to experience

Hybrid : No, this is an on-site role

Suitable for new Graduate / Masters : No - whilst a degree level qualification is essential, demonstrable professional experience at a Senior level is also essential

Visa support : No - you MUST have the right to work in the UK

Driving licence : UK driving licence essential due to occasional site work

The role :

Producing new designs
Validating designs (your own and others)
Support technical sales with RFQ / RFI / Enquiries
Carry out structural analysis work, including finite element analysis (loads, linear FEA)
Advise on material selection
Compile test procedures to ensure compliance with legislative requirements and customer specifications
Liaise certification authorities to obtain product approvals and endorsements
Maintain all design files
Supervise and mentor Structural Design Engineers
Contribute to the continuing improvement programme to reduce costs and raise quality

About You :

Degree qualified in a relevant subject - Mechanical Engineering, Structural engineering or very similar
Masters qualification preferred
Chartered Engineer or working towards CEng
Able to work on multiple projects at the same time
Proven structural engineering and design experience - 5 years preferred
Proven structural analysis experience
Demonstrable abilities with finite element analysis / stress analysis / loads
Experience of material selection and the effects different materials bring to a structure eg deflection
Experience of steel and Eurocode materials
Strong organisational and decision-making skills is essential
Ability to create, read and understand technical drawings
Excellent inter-personal skills including people management
First class planning & organisational skills
Good presentation, written and oral communication skills, confident in presenting to customers
Proficient with engineering software - AutoCAD Mechanical Desktop and Inventor, Solidworks, Robot / Nastran, MathCad, Excel etc
