This Product Validation / Test Development Engineer role will support the development and testing of innovative technology for the electric vehicle market. This is a “hands-on” role where you will be responsible for writing and developing mechanical product validation and verification tests and designing appropriate test procedures, building and setting up test equipment, carrying out mechanical product testing, analysing collected data and producing the necessary reports and documentation.

Typical fun stuff: Test Development Engineer

  • Completing all types of testing, including performance and functional or a full motor system, environmental, life and destructive testing

  • Liaising with and overseeing work completed by external test houses and certification bodies

  • Generating test documentation including test reports and specifications

  • Designing and specifying new test procedures

  • Analysing test data and making appropriate diagnosis and recommendations on trends, solutions and improvements

  • Setting up tests including designing and building test jigs and fixtures, metal and plastic work, wiring and soldering

  • Supervision of Product Validation Technicians

    What you need: Test Development Engineer

  • The ideal candidate will have good knowledge of a product development environment and be very practically minded

  • An ability to foresee potential issues and plan ahead to make test processes more effective and mitigate risks

  • Testing & Development skills across electro-mechanical / mechanical engineering

  • In addition to carrying out tests, you should have the ability to prepare, create and design tests specifications

  • You will need hands-on skills in building test equipment and supporting lab based experiments

  • Proven knowledge of LabVIEW / LabWindows / National Instruments software would be ideal

  • It would be perfect if you had a background in automotive systems, electric motors, high speed rotating machines etc however other sectors will be considered – Aerospace, Rolling stock, Rail, Medical, Robotics, Consumer Goods etc.

    There may be occasional travel attached to this role as the client has global sites and clients - possibly a week or two maybe once or twice a year.

    Commutable from Guildford, Winchester, Basingstoke, Farnborough, London, Petersfield etc.
