Are you a Mechanical Design Team Lead, Senior Mechanical Design Engineer or Mechanical Design Manager looking to step into a role where you'll lead a small team, take real ownership of delivery, and be trusted to drive standards and continuous improvement on genuinely interesting automation projects?

On offer is a permanent opportunity with a well-established specialist automation business designing and building bespoke manufacturing machinery for customers across sectors including dairy and pharmaceuticals, where you'll combine hands-on design with day-to-day leadership.

You'll be joining a respected company with a strong track record, a collaborative engineering culture and a pipeline of new projects. As a result of continued growth, they are now creating this position to take ownership of the mechanical design function and support the Engineering Director.

In this role you'll lead a team of 4, manage workload and resources, maintain design quality and engineering standards, and deliver projects from concept through to manufacture, assembly and commissioning using 3D CAD (Autodesk / Fusion).

This role would suit a mechanical design leader from a special purpose machinery / automation background looking to take the next step into a key leadership position with autonomy, responsibility and long-term development.

The Role:

• Lead and manage a Mechanical Design team (team of 4), reporting into the Engineering Director
• Hands-on mechanical design of special purpose machinery (automation, conveyors, robotics)
• Own delivery: workload planning, quality standards, continuous improvement and KPIs
• Office-based role in a rural location near Winchcombe (Mon-Thu 08:00-17:00, Fri 08:00-14:00)

The Person:

• Mechanical design background within automation / special purpose machinery / robotics
• Prior leadership experience as a minimum (Team Lead / Supervisor), ideally Management
• 3D CAD experience (Autodesk / Fusion) and able to commute to a rural site (own transport)
