About the Role

We are seeking a motivated Structural Engineer to join our growing team in Manchester, working primarily on residential housing projects. The role involves the design, analysis, and delivery of structural solutions for new-build and refurbishment residential properties, including low- to medium-rise housing developments.

You will work closely with architects, developers, and contractors to deliver safe, efficient, and cost-effective structural designs in line with UK standards and best practice.

Key Responsibilities

Design structural elements for residential buildings, including foundations, steel, timber, masonry, and reinforced concrete

Prepare structural calculations, drawings, and technical reports

Carry out site visits, inspections, and surveys as required

*

Ensure designs comply with relevant UK Building Regulations, Eurocodes, and British Standards

Liaise with clients, architects, local authorities, and contractors

*

Provide technical support during construction and respond to site queries

*

Manage multiple projects and meet agreed deadlines and budgets

*

Assist with mentoring junior engineers and technicians where appropriate

Requirements

*

Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering

*

2+ years’ experience working on UK residential projects (houses, extensions, low-rise apartments)

*

Strong knowledge of Eurocodes and UK Building Regulations

*

Experience with structural design software (e.g. Tekla Tedds, AutoCAD, ETABS, Robot, or similar)

*

Ability to produce clear calculations and drawings

*

Good communication and problem-solving skills

*

Full UK driving licence (preferred, due to site visits)

Desirable

*

Working towards Chartered status (ICE or IStructE)

*

Experience with timber frame and domestic steelwork design

*

Familiarity with Party Wall matters and domestic alterations

*

Experience liaising directly with homeowners and developers
