Your new role

As an Application Specialist, you will be part of the Information Technology and Business Systems team, providing support for applications and business software. You will collaborate closely with project managers, IT teams, business systems teams, and digital teams, as well as departmental heads, to understand their needs and requirements. You will ensure the smooth delivery and operation of business systems and applications, offering technical support, troubleshooting, and training to end-users and internal staff.

Responsibilities

Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from analysis and design to testing and deployment.

Configure, install, and maintain software applications on various platforms and devices alongside product owners.

Monitor and optimise the performance across systems, availability, and security of the applications in line with our adjacent infrastructure team.

Provide technical assistance and troubleshooting for application-related issues, serving as the primary point of contact for users.

Document and update the application specifications, manuals, SOP's, and procedures.

Research and evaluate new technologies and tools to improve the application development and delivery process.

Monitor and suggest software security protocols to protect sensitive business information.

Analyse user needs and provide recommendations for new/improvements to enhance business processes.

Work closely with the software development teams to design, test, and deploy new applications and enhancements.

Conduct training sessions and create user guides to help colleagues effectively use new or updated applications

Liaise with software vendors to manage contracts, updates, patches, and support agreements

Experience needed

Strong problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve application issues

Ability to manage application-related projects, including planning, execution, and monitoring

Experience in creating and maintaining detailed documentation for applications

Experience in providing technical support and training to end-users

Proven ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including IT, business systems, and digital teams

Desirable

Proficient in SQL and experienced in managing databases.

Skilled in programming languages such as C#, Java, Python, or PHP.

Familiar with web development frameworks and technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and .NET.

Knowledgeable in Microsoft Power Automate.

Microsoft Graph API:** Understanding of Microsoft Graph API.

Experienced in Robotic Process Automation (RPA).

Knowledgeable in HR systems.

Familiar with Microsoft Entra.

Understanding of AWS.
