An innovative and fast-growing automotive manufacturer based in Telford is seeking a skilled CNC Setter (Operator) to join its advanced production team. This global leader in high-pressure die-casting produces medium to large aluminium components for the world’s leading vehicle manufacturers. About the Role

You’ll play a key part in the CNC operations team, taking responsibility for minor automation issues, running CNC machines, and ensuring high-quality output throughout the production line. This role involves operating advanced manufacturing equipment including ABB robots, straightening presses, and SHL cells, while promoting a safe, clean, and efficient working environment.

You’ll work closely with the Senior CNC Setter and Shift Supervisor to maintain output, resolve faults, train team members, and continuously improve processes in line with customer and quality expectations.

Key Responsibilities

Set and operate CNC machines to meet customer specifications

Monitor GOM/CMM quality reports and adjust offsets as needed

Troubleshoot and recover CNC and ABB robot faults

Change fixtures, tools, and perform tool checks using appropriate gauges

Conduct TPM on machines and fixtures

Operate and maintain automation lines and straightening presses

Support root cause analysis for downtime and corrective actions

Mentor and train operators on best practices and safe operation

Contribute to 5S, safety, and continuous improvement activities

Required Experience & Skills

Essential:

Proven experience setting and operating CNC machinery

Knowledge of safe machine practices and production quality standards

Ability to analyse and solve production issues

Experience with robotic or automated manufacturing lines

Strong communication and problem-solving abilities

Desirable:

Experience in a high-pressure die-casting or automotive environment

Familiarity with ABB robot programming

IOSH qualification

Experience using straightening presses and heat shrink tooling

Understanding of KPIs and lean manufacturing principles
