Control Systems/ Automation Engineer

Yolk Recruitment are exclusively working with a newly- established Manufacturer who have had sustained growth for over the last 2-3 years with continued investment and new business they are now looking to recruit for a Control Systems/ Automation Engineer.

Our client have established themselves as the go to automation experts in their industry with a commitment to improving productivity and streamlining operations for their clients.

Working with several well-known clients throughout the FMCG/ Food and Drink industry its an exciting time to join the business as they are helping their clients move towards industry 4.0.

This is what you'll be doing.

In this role, you will liaise directly with clients to define project scope and take ownership from concept through to design, process development, and final installation.

This is a hands-on position suited to someone with a strong background in control systems, automation, and client-facing project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

Liaise directly with clients to gather technical requirements and define project scope
Develop and implement control system architecture using PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems
Produce electrical and control system design documentation
Coordinate with mechanical and electrical teams to ensure seamless integration
Manage project timelines, resources, and budgets from concept to commissioning
Conduct on-site installations and support commissioning activities
Provide technical support and troubleshooting during and after project delivery
Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations

The Experience you'll bring to the team.

A minimum of NVQ Level 3/HNC/HND or Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Automation or similar)
Experience designing and commissioning automation systems in process or manufacturing environments
Strong hands-on knowledge of PLC and SCADA systems (Siemens, Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi)
Familiar with industrial communication protocols: Profibus, Profinet, Modbus, Ethernet, DH+
Confident working on live systems and integrating into existing infrastructure
Understanding of robotics programming (KUKA, ABB, Universal Robots)
Knowledge of P&IDs, loop tuning, and interpreting electrical schematics
Willingness to travel and work on client sites as required

As an Automation Engineer you will receive a competitive salary of up to £50,000 (dependent on experience) and the opportunity to progress as the team and business grows.
