Design Engineer

Bennett & Game Recruitment are representing a Design Engineer / Senior Engineering Technician position on behalf of a well-established provider of specialist rental solutions to the construction and civil engineering sectors. With a strong presence across the UK and a long-standing reputation for innovation and reliability, our client delivers temporary works systems to support a wide range of structural and excavation projects - from frequent small-scale schemes to highly bespoke major infrastructure packages.

As part of their continued growth, an exciting opportunity has arisen to join their Major Projects Design Team. This role will suit a detail-focused engineer with strong design skills, eager to contribute to large-scale engineering solutions within a collaborative environment.

Design Engineer / Senior Engineering Technician - Role Overview

  • Produce temporary works designs for tender, preliminary, and construction stages in line with current legislation and design standards.

  • Create high-quality technical drawings using Autodesk Revit.

  • Follow internal design procedures to maintain consistency and efficiency.

  • Liaise with sales, operations, and internal technical teams to coordinate project delivery.

  • Support colleagues across departments and contribute to workload balancing.

  • Mentor junior staff and help refine best practices and design processes.

  • Manage personal workload effectively and meet project deadlines.

  • Contribute proactively in team discussions and lead on innovation within the team.

    Design Engineer / Senior Engineering Technician - Key Responsibilities

  • Prior experience in a design role, ideally within the construction or civil engineering sectors.

  • BTEC/HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or similar, or a degree in Civil/Structural Engineering (BEng, MEng, BSc, MSc).

  • Proficient with Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.

  • Familiarity with structural analysis software (e.g. Tekla Tedds, CADS A3D MAX, Robot, or SAP2000) and programming tools (e.g. Dynamo, Python) is desirable.

  • Knowledge of temporary works systems or experience with modular structural support products is advantageous.

  • Membership of or working towards ICE or similar professional body is a plus.

    Design Engineer / Senior Engineering Technician - Salary & Benefits

  • £30,000 - £35,000 dependant on experience levels
