We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Electrical/Controls Design Engineer to join our engineering team. This role focuses on designing and developing bespoke control systems that meet customer requirements while adhering to industry standards. The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise with creativity to deliver solutions that enhance our reputation for excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Design Development: Create detailed electrical schematics, layouts, and wiring diagrams for control panels, ensuring compliance with customer specifications and industry standards.

Component Selection: Specify and source components such as PLCs, relays, HMIs, and sensors to optimize system performance and cost-effectiveness.

System Integration: Develop and integrate control systems with broader industrial processes, ensuring seamless functionality.

Technical Documentation: Produce high-quality design documentation, including BOMs (Bills of Materials), test procedures, and user manuals.

Customer Collaboration: Work closely with clients to interpret requirements, present design concepts, and incorporate feedback.

Compliance and Testing: Ensure designs meet relevant regulatory and safety standards; support testing and commissioning of systems when required.

Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance design processes, reduce costs, and improve product reliability.

Team Collaboration: Collaborate with production, proposals, and procurement teams to ensure smooth project delivery.

Skills and Experience

Experience: Proven experience in electrical design, control systems, or a similar engineering role within manufacturing or industrial automation.

Technical Skills: Proficient in electrical CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical (Preferred), EPLAN, or similar).

Knowledge Base: Familiarity with PLC programming, SCADA systems, and industrial communication protocols is advantageous.

Standards Awareness: Understanding of industry standards such as IEC, UL, or BS EN for electrical control panel design.

IT Skills: Competency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel; experience with ERP systems is a plus.

Specific Qualifications

Driving Licence: Full, clean UK driving licence is essential for site visits.

Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve design challenges effectively.

Qualifications: Degree, equivalent or HNC qualification in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, or a related field.
