Manufacturing Engineer

As a result of rapid growth, and the introduction of new products, a market leader in the development of scientific instruments is now looking for a new NPD & Engineering Manager.

This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role within this growing organisation and to make a significant contribution to the business.

With a proven track record in managing / leading NPD projects / teams, you will manage and deliver NPD projects on-time, in-full, interfacing with team members and with external partners. ‘Hands-on’ NPD activity will include electronics, firmware, software and mechanics, as required.

You will establish specifications and functional descriptions covering mechanical, electronic and software requirements.

Further you will, build and execute project plans including budget, time-line and resource allocation (internal and external).

You will lead a small team of engineers, technicians and/or apprentices.

You will create and maintain project documentation to a high standard, including meeting and achieving certification to relevant product standards (e.g. EN61010).

Leading NPD you will assist with transferring new products to the production team.

As Engineering and NPD Manager you will contribute to the detailed definition of the Company NPD roadmap and product specifications.

In addition to NPD responsibility, you will also be responsible for the existing product range, supporting service and test with fault finding, identifying solutions for faults and obsolescence.

You will also support customers, distributors and engineering with technical and service matters.

Experience:

We are seeking at least five years’ experience in an engineering development environment: specific experience in scientific equipment, instrumentation, special purpose machinery, motion control or robotic systems development is required

Proven track record in project delivery, achieving project deadlines and performance objectives.

Additional Information:

Candidates MUST be eligible to work and live in the UK. Copies of Passports and Visas will be requested for verification.

There will be occasional overnight business travel. As such the successful candidate MUST hold a Full clean UK driving licence.

Salary / benefits: c£60k, plus 10% bonus and benefits.
