Plant Director / Service Centre Director

£80,000 basic + substantial bonus potential (£120k - £140k) + Car Allowance + Benefits
Are you ready to take full ownership of a thriving engineering facility and drive it to the next level? We are seeking an experienced Plant Director, Service Centre Director, Operations Director to lead operations at a specialist fabrication and engineering site based near Leeds.
This is a rare opportunity to step into a senior leadership role within one of the UK’s largest and most successful fabrication and engineering groups. The site specialises in advanced sheet metalwork, robotic welding, laser cutting, and structural fabrication services, supplying a diverse range of sectors including automotive, aerospace, defence, marine, and oil & gas.

Plant Director / Service Centre Director - The Opportunity

As Service Centre Director, you’ll be fully accountable for all aspects of the site’s performance — P&L ownership, sales, operational delivery, and the leadership of a skilled workforce. You’ll shape the site’s strategy, build a high-performance culture, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Reporting directly to the Group Managing Director, you’ll have the autonomy to run this site like your own business — with the backing of a successful, ambitious group behind you.

Plant Director / Service Centre Director - Responsibilities

Take full responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the site.
Lead a team of over 40 employees, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and customer focus.
Set and deliver on strategic objectives — driving growth, profitability, and market leadership.
Maintain and improve operational efficiency, productivity, and product quality through lean and continuous improvement initiatives.
Manage recruitment, training, and performance management to develop high-performing teams.
Drive outstanding levels of customer satisfaction across all operations.
Monitor and control operational budgets, ensuring profitability and cost-efficiency.
Build strong, influential relationships with both internal stakeholders and external customers.
Plant Director / Service Centre Director - What We’re Looking For

Extensive senior leadership experience within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
A background in sheet metalwork, fabrication, and ideally laser cutting operations.
Proven track record of delivering business growth and profitability.
Strong P&L management and financial leadership experience.
A collaborative, energetic leadership style with the ability to inspire and develop teams.
Deep commitment to operational excellence and customer satisfaction.
Excellent commercial and communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
