About us:

Epson Telford Limited was established in 1987, we are on a 50-acre site and operate a 24/7 manufacturing site.

We are the only European manufacturing and distribution site for ink cartridges and textile inks. These products are shipped to an Epson warehouse in Germany where they are then distributed throughout Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Quality and innovation is at the heart of everything we do, from our Cleanroom environment to our in-house machinery, design and technology improvements from which we use our own Epson 6-axis robots.

The Plant Maintenance department currently have an exciting opportunity for a candidate with a mechanical and electrical background and knowledge. Reporting directly to the Plant Maintenance Manager the role will be diverse and interesting, with numerous opportunities to implement change and improvements.

Hours of work:

Days: Monday to Thursday 08:15-17:15 Friday 08:15-13:15

Main job functions:

  • To ensure all machinery breakdowns are responded to quickly and efficiently, and fault-finding is logical to ensure route cause is identified quickly and efficiently and all repairs are carried out to a high standard

  • Maintain, monitor and repair critical auxiliary systems including but not limited to: Compressed air, Vacuum, Reverse Osmosis Plant, Effluent Plant, Extraction etc.

  • Work closely with production departments when implementing new business or lines to ensure the customer can meet deadlines and has all the required services.

  • Investigate, propose, and implement small scale improvements within the department and wider factory with a goal of increasing safety, efficiency, 5S and productivity or reducing costs.

  • Take ownership of tasks from the HEAT request system and ensure the customers request is completed to a high standard and within the expected time frame.

  • Mentor junior members of the team

  • To be able to provide technical support to other departments and assist with major projects such as layout changes, line installs, and equipment moves.

  • Complete electrical, mechanical, and fluid installs from start to finish including specification, parts lists, install, commission and testing in a safe manner and to the required standards.

  • Basic site maintenance including carpentry, plumbing repairs, minor electrical works, HVAC, LED replacement etc.

  • To respond to out of hours breakdowns as part of the very reasonable callout rota with standby allowance.

  • Support PM Manager/Specialist with projects, improvements, safety systems, documentation, and procedures.

    Skills required:

  • Mechanical, Electrical and fluid system diagnosis and repair.

  • Must have good communication skills both face to face and via various media

  • Take ownership of tasks

  • Self-time management

  • Logical fault-finding ability and route cause identification

  • Manual fitting skills/fabrication, carpentry, plumbing, drywalling etc

  • Flexibility and adoptability to change

  • Risk assessment and basic project management

    Qualifications (desirable):

  • Mechanical and/or Electrical qualifications

  • Supervisory experience

  • IOSH/NEBOSH

  • HNC or NVQ4 in an engineering function

  • 18th Edition Wiring Regs

  • RTITB Counterbalance lift truck Licence

    Experience required (essential):

  • Previous experience in a similar role

    Experience required (desirable):

  • Project management, improvement projects, Kaizen activities.

  • Health & Safety activities such as auditing, risk assessment and disaster management.
