Senior Controls Engineer

    We are working with an established System Integrator company based in Nottingham, UK.

    They are recruiting for a Senior Controls Engineer to join their team.

    In return for a salary up to £65.000 along with excellent employment benefits.

    Our Client are a leading provider of automation solutions within the warehousing and logistics industry, specializing in the design, integration, and installation of control systems for complex logistics operations.

    As part of ongoing expansion, they are looking for an experienced and skilled Senior Controls Engineer to join their dynamic team in Nottingham.

    Key Responsibilities include:

  • To manage individual projects at an engineering level in line with the lead times and standards required by the client

  • To manage individual projects at a client level in line with the lead times and standards required by the client

  • To develop technical documents in line with the client requirements to the industry standard using technical features, diagrams and language

  • To develop bespoke software routines and functions to allow machines/ systems to function in a safe and controlled manor as required by the client or FDS

  • To implement systems software standard where required while developing software for the business

  • To develop safety software for use on any systems where safety controllers are to be used; In line with BS-EN13849

  • To ensure systems are correctly tested and quality checked prior to shipping

  • To ensure all aspects of bespoke software is tested to the required degree prior to systems shipping and commissioning

  • To commission bespoke systems onsite within the UK and from time to time overseas in line with all relevant standards

  • To be capable of working away onsite during the working week. Please note: not all site work requires the candidate to stay away if travel door to door is less than 1.5 hours. Where staying away is required all hotel bills are carried by the employer directly and shall not fall to the employee.

  • To take part in company training when required in order to further improve on current skills

  • To carry out all reasonable requests related to your profession from management when required

  • To work as part of a team both in the workshop and onsite as required, to assist others in their work to ensure a projects success.

  • To ensure all employees are treated equally and to ensure that no offense is caused to others

  • To follow health and safety policy both within the workshop and on site

  • To interact with customers in a polite and professional manner at all times

    Requirements:

  • Strong use and understanding of Siemens TIA Portal

  • Strong understanding of PLC programming using ladder code, STL or SCL including the correct use of:

    o Functions blocks/ add-on instructions

    o Function calls/ routines

    o Data blocks (Siemens)

  • Strong understanding of HMI screen development

  • Onsite commissioning experience of industrial automation Conveyor control

  • Machine interfaces and machine sequential logic

  • Safety controllers

  • Drive configuration and motor control (does not need to be servo control)

  • Strong understanding of Profinet, Ethernet and Profibus industrial communications systems

  • Ability to work away within the UK on sites as part of a controls team under the direction of the control systems project management

  • Very good communication skills with technical analysis and feedback required in daily reports

    Desirable Requirements:

    The candidates should be qualified at level 4 as a minimum requirement where this can be in either Electrical or Electro-Mechanical
