Senior/Principal Structural Engineer

Our client, a prominent player in the buildings and rail sector, is currently seeking a Senior/Principal Structural Engineer for a contract role. This position involves collaborating with designers and contract partners on a variety of challenging projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop design deliverables (drawings, reports, specifications) in accordance with Railway Group and Network Rail Company standards, and other client requirements
Liaise with construction teams to ensure designs are buildable and represent value for money
Develop and maintain hazard/risk registers for allocated design packages
Ensure consistency and quality of deliverables across all projects by liaising with the wider design team
Implement effective, value for money and innovative design solutions to meet technical and project requirements
Prepare and check technical documents and reports, and assist in the preparation of expressions of interest and tenders
Ensure compliance with relevant health, safety and environmental legislation, particularly the CDM Regulations
Project administration reporting to the Project Manager, including monitoring programme delivery, resources and budgets
Act as Checker or Approver for various types of civil design
Conceptual, outline and detailed design of engineering solutions, including presentation of engineering options
Deliver work to programme, budget and specification
Establish internal design standards and/or processes to achieve continuous improvement in quality and efficiency

Job Requirements:

Professional registration with either IStructE or ICE at Chartered level, or demonstrable evidence of progress towards Chartership
Significant structural engineering design experience with large-scale infrastructure exposure
Experience working with BIM level 2 and Revit; knowledge of Robot, Tekla, and Tekla Tedds analysis software beneficial
Experience working with relevant design standards such as Eurocodes, British Standards, UK Building Regulations, and Network Rail Standards
Ability to undertake the role of Contractors Responsible Engineer (CRE) when required
