Job Title: Software Engineer - Robotics & Industrial Automation
Location: Sheffield
Salary: £36,000 - £54,000 DOE

Overview:
We're working with a cutting-edge industrial automation company that specialises in robotics, advanced manufacturing, and bespoke engineering solutions for major names in the aerospace and industrial sectors. Due to ongoing growth, they are now looking for multiple Software Engineers to join their dynamic team at their state-of-the-art facility in Dorchester.
If you thrive in a fast-paced, problem-solving environment where no two projects are the same, this is a fantastic opportunity to work on some of the most exciting robotics and automation challenges in the UK.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain software for advanced automation systems involving robotics, vision systems, and precision motion control

Program backend systems in C# .NET to process real-time data from sensors, cameras, and industrial devices

Design and implement HMIs using frameworks such as Blazor, WPF, and WinCC

Work on machine control systems, PLCs, and embedded platforms for synchronised multi-axis control

Interface with industrial robots using proprietary languages (KRL, TP, KAREL, G-Code)

Contribute to the full project lifecycle: design, programming, testing, commissioning, and client handover

Collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams

Travel occasionally to customer sites for commissioning and support (UK-based)

Essential Skills & Experience:

2+ years' experience in industrial programming (preferably in C#)

Experience in automation and/or robotics projects

STEM degree (Engineering, Computer Science, etc.) with strong core technical understanding

3D machine vision experience (e.g. Halcon, OpenCV, Point Clouds)

Strong problem-solving mindset and ability to self-learn new technologies

Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English

Able to work independently and manage multiple technical challenges

Willingness and ability to travel when required

Desirable Skills (Not Essential):

Experience with .NET, ASP.NET, Blazor, HTML, CSS, JavaScript

PLC programming using IEC (phone number removed)

Embedded development (C/C++, ARM Cortex M, ESP32, Arduino)

Full stack web application development

Familiarity with industrial networking and fieldbus protocols
