Location: On site at our Crawley Court, Head Office.

    Purpose

    We’re looking for an engineer that uses innovative problem-solving, forward-compatible automation and best practice test lab management to optimise our test facilities and capabilities. Supports Smart Utilities Networks (SUN) and Media & Broadcast (M&B) end-to-end testing.

    You will design, build and maintain test automation for our network connectivity and communications device testing, enabling more tests to be run remotely and reducing test-set configuration times. To manage and support test environments that mirror production conditions, you will ensure quality, reliability and innovation at every stage of development.

    Accountabilities

  • Develop the Test Automation Framework, test tools and robotics capability to reduce test times and improve results (with associated documentation).

  • Identify candidates for automation and manage on-going roadmap of initiatives.

  • Support active testing by providing testers with assistance and troubleshooting.

  • Identify general test improvement opportunities and work on initiatives that increase reliability, capability and capacity to support test strategies.

  • Assist with the maintenance of test lab racks, equipment, network, power etc in order to support test strategies and test plans

  • Contribute to the design and build of hardware, software and connectivity solutions to expand and improve test capabilities for new and existing products.

  • Contribute to the development of lab management best practice e.g. business continuity, disaster recovery, asset management.

    Skills

  • Understanding of testing principles and tools.

  • Aptitude for electronics, IT and connectivity in a business environment.

  • Experience of CAD, programming and scripting e.g. Python, SQL, Javascript.

    Knowledge & Experience

  • Experience designing and building test automation frameworks.

  • Experience working with wireless communications e.g. radio frequency, antennas, transceivers.

  • Experience working with wide area network infrastructure e.g. racks, routers, cabling.

  • Experience working on projects that range from large contract-prescribed test requirements to small innovative initiatives that drive incremental improvements.

  • Demonstrates curiosity to delve into test practices and identify opportunities for improvement and automation.

  • Demonstrates attention to detail and regulatory requirements.

  • Experience of test automation and robotics.

  • Experience working with build or test teams working on networks or connectivity.

  • Curious and collaborative approach to problem solving.

  • Experience working in a small team with wide scope of responsibility.

    Qualifications: Computer Science, Information Technology or engineering-related degree (or equivalent).
