Caterpillar Peterlee is the worldwide source of Cat® Articulated Trucks, currently producing 7 variants used in many industries including mining, construction and aggregates. The facility's manufacturing activities use the latest computer analysis techniques, robotic technology and a state-of-the-art paint plant.

We are looking to place, train and develop trainee welders. The successful candidates will be trained to meet our facilities specific welding needs.

This will allow us to eventually support the fabrication production requirements as the build program increases within the Peterlee facility.

Pay rate will be £10.00 PER HOUR - £12.21 PER HOUR (depending on age) during initial 8 weeks training, then £15.60 PER HOUR with a further increase to £18.80 PER HOUR after 12 months.
Initially working day shift for the first 8 weeks - 08:00 - 16:00 Monday to Thursday, 08:00 - 12:30 Friday After training there is a 3 shift pattern, Days, Backs and Nights as follows;

Days 08:00 - 16:00 Monday to Thursday, 08:00 - 12:30 Friday
Backs 16:00 - 00:00 Monday to Thursday, 12:30 - 17:00 Friday
Nights 00:00 - 08:00 Monday to Thursday, 17:00 - 21:30 Friday

Responsibilities:

Intensive training in Welding theory and the practical welding process for 8 weeks at Hartlepool College, before being slowly introduced into the Operations environment in the Peterlee facility. This will be supervised by an appointed Weld Training Specialist.
Training on the basic fundamentals and required aspects of welding in line with People, Quality, Velocity and Cost.
