Siemens PLC Software Engineer | TIA Portal | Automation Systems

Location: Haslingden, Rossendale

Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 + Benefits

Are you a PLC Software Engineer with strong Siemens TIA Portal experience looking for a role where you can focus on developing automation solutions rather than spending your time travelling from site to site?

We're recruiting on behalf of a leading automation and material handling specialist seeking a PLC Software Engineer to join their growing engineering team based in Haslingden, Rossendale.

This is an excellent opportunity to work on complex automated systems from concept through to delivery, developing software primarily within Siemens TIA Portal. You'll join a business with a strong project pipeline and the opportunity to work on cutting-edge automation projects for customers across the UK and internationally.

The Role

As a PLC Software Engineer, you'll be responsible for the design, development and testing of PLC software for automated machinery and material handling systems.

The majority of projects are developed using Siemens TIA Portal, although experience with Allen Bradley PLCs would also be highly beneficial.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop PLC software for automated machinery and material handling systems

• Program and configure Siemens PLC systems using TIA Portal

• Support projects involving Allen Bradley PLC platforms where required

• Produce functional design specifications and software documentation

• Develop and configure HMI and SCADA systems

• Carry out software testing and simulation activities

• Support FAT activities and provide technical expertise to project teams

• Work closely with electrical design, commissioning and project engineering teams

• Ensure projects are delivered to specification, budget and programme

Requirements

• Previous experience as a PLC Software Engineer, Automation Engineer or Controls Software Engineer

• Strong Siemens TIA Portal programming experience

• Experience developing software for industrial automation systems

• Exposure to Allen Bradley PLCs would be advantageous

• HMI and SCADA development experience

• Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Desirable

• Experience within material handling, warehouse automation, manufacturing or special purpose machinery

• Knowledge of industrial communication protocols and network architecture

• Understanding of electrical control systems and automation architecture
