My client is an established, privately owned agricultural business operating a highly integrated farming system across arable, renewable energy and food production.

The business is focused on sustainability, waste reduction, and low-emission operations, using engineering and innovation to continuously improve efficiency. Systems are designed to work together, creating a circular model where outputs from one process become inputs to another.

This is a practical, engineering-led environment where new ideas are actively developed, tested, and implemented on-site.

The Role

We are looking for a Graduate or degree qualified Engineer to support the maintenance, improvement, and development of a wide range of engineering systems across the site. You could also be a time served engineer with the relevant experience, the client has no preference on either - it's about the person!

This is a hands-on engineering role ideal for someone who enjoys both practical work and technical problem-solving. You will work closely with senior management, with the opportunity to take on increasing responsibility and ownership of projects over time.

Key Responsibilities

* Maintenance and development of mechanical and electrical systems

* Supporting the plant, including:

* PLC and HMI programming (training available)

* Mechanical maintenance and reliability improvements

* Process control and optimisation

* Working with automation and control systems (PLC, SCADA, Modbus)

* Maintaining and improving:

* Water and hot water systems

* Irrigation and pump control systems

* Farm machinery controls

* Designing and building bespoke control systems and instrumentation (e.g. Arduino)

* Supporting food production equipment (heating, cooling systems)

* Assisting with IT infrastructure, CCTV, and telecoms systems

* Monitoring performance data and contributing to KPI tracking and operational improvements

Candidate Requirements

Essential:

* Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronic, or similar) or equivalent experience

* Practical, hands-on approach to engineering

* Strong problem-solving skills

* Willingness to work in a rural/agricultural environment

* Full UK driving licence

Desirable:

* Experience or knowledge of PLC programming / industrial automation

* Familiarity with SCADA systems or Modbus communication

* Basic programming or electronics experience

* Interest in renewable energy, sustainability, or agriculture

The opportunity:

* Broad, varied role across mechanical, electrical, and automation engineering

* Opportunity to work on real-world systems with immediate impact

* Involvement in design, innovation, and system improvement

* Clear progression with increasing responsibility

* Potential to contribute to new product development

Additional Information

Also suitable for recent graduates or early-career engineers with a farming background, the scope of salary shows the flexibility of package based on skill set and experience.

Applicants must have the right to work in the UK

Own transport required due to rural location

Where to Advertise Robotics Jobs in the UK (2026 Guide)

Advertising robotics jobs in the UK requires a different approach to most technical hiring. The candidate pool spans mechanical engineers, software developers, controls specialists, computer vision researchers and systems integrators — a multidisciplinary mix that general job boards are poorly equipped to reach. The strongest robotics candidates are often embedded in research groups, defence programmes or advanced manufacturing environments, and move between roles through specialist networks and industry events rather than mainstream platforms. This guide, published by RoboticsJobs.co.uk, covers where to advertise robotics roles in the UK in 2026, how the main platforms compare, what employers should expect to pay, and what the data says about hiring across different role types.

Robotics Jobs UK 2026: What to Expect Over the Next 3 Years

Robotics is having a moment that feels qualitatively different from the cycles of hype and disappointment that have characterised the sector in previous decades. The convergence of advances in AI, computer vision, battery technology, and hardware manufacturing has brought robotics to an inflection point — one where the gap between what robots can do in controlled laboratory conditions and what they can do in the unpredictable complexity of the real world is closing faster than at any previous point in the discipline's history. For job seekers, this inflection point is creating a jobs market that is expanding rapidly across a far wider range of industries and role types than robotics has historically occupied. Automotive and manufacturing remain significant employers, but they are now joined by logistics and warehousing, healthcare, agriculture, construction, defence, and the emerging category of humanoid robotics — each generating distinct hiring demand and drawing on overlapping but meaningfully different skill sets. The candidates who will thrive over the next three years are those who understand where the sector is heading — which application areas are scaling from pilot to production, which technologies are defining the architecture of modern robotic systems, and how the definition of a robotics career is evolving beyond the mechanical engineering core toward a much richer intersection of software, AI, and systems engineering. This article breaks down what the UK robotics jobs market is likely to look like through to 2028 — covering the titles emerging right now, the technologies driving employer demand, the skills that will matter most, and how to position your career at the leading edge of one of the most exciting technology transitions of the coming decade.

New Robotics Employers to Watch in 2026: UK and Global Companies Transforming Automation Careers
