Mechanical Design Engineer – Bespoke Machinery | Opportunity for Hybrid Working

Poole | £40,000–, £48,000 (DOE) | Permanent

If you’re a Mechanical Design Engineer who enjoysvariety, ownership, and seeing your designs actually built, this role offers something a bit different.

We’re supporting a well-established engineering company in Poole that designs and buildsspecial purpose machinery. Due to continued growth, they’re looking to add another engineer to their close-knit team.

You’ll be involved fromconcept through to build, install, and beyond.

What you’ll be doing:

• Designing mechanical components, assemblies and full machines (SolidWorks)

• Working on bespoke, one-off projects, not repeat production work

• Taking ownership of projects from concept through to completion

• Collaborating with electrical and automation engineers

• Getting involved in problem-solving, improvements, and practical engineering decisions

What they’re looking for:

• Experience in mechanical design (machinery, automation, or similar)

• Strong 3D CAD skills (SolidWorks ideal, but open)

• Someone who enjoys hands-on, project-based work

• Able to manage multiple projects and adapt as things evolve

• A practical mindset, someone who likes to see things work in real life

Why this role stands out:

• Every project is different, no repetitive design work

• You’ll see your designs built, installed and in action

• Supportive, down-to-earth team

• Stable, growing business with long-term security

• Hybrid working (typically 1 day from home once settled)

• Real input into designs, your ideas won’t be lost

If you’re starting to feel your current role is a bit repetitive, or you’re looking for more ownership and variety, this is well worth exploring.
