Job Title: Industrial Automation Sales Engineer / Account Manager

Location: East UK - Newcastle - Leicester

Salary: £50,000 - £58,000 + £15,000 commission + Car/Allowance + Benefits

The Opportunity

We’re looking for a commercially driven and technically minded Sales Engineer to grow our industrial automation business. You’ll be selling a high-quality portfolio of PLCs, drives, sensors, and robotics solutions to both end users and OEMs across a range of industries including manufacturing, logistics, and process automation.

This is a role for someone who enjoys solving real-world engineering challenges while building strong, long-term customer relationships.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Developing new business while managing and growing existing accounts
  • Selling automation solutions including PLC systems, motion control, drives, sensing technologies, and robotics
  • Working with end users and OEMs to identify opportunities for efficiency, productivity, and system improvements
  • Providing technical consultation and solution-based sales rather than just product selling
  • Collaborating with internal engineering and support teams to deliver tailored solutions
  • Preparing proposals, quotations, and presenting solutions to customers
  • Keeping up to date with industry trends, competitors, and emerging technologies

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in industrial automation sales, applications engineering, or similar
  • Knowledge of PLCs, VSDs/drives, sensors, robotics, or control systems
  • Ability to understand customer processes and translate needs into solutions
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Self-motivated, target-driven, and comfortable working autonomously
  • Engineering qualification (HNC/HND/Degree) or equivalent industry experience

What’s in It for You

  • Competitive base salary with uncapped commission/bonus potential
  • Company car or car allowance
  • Ongoing training and career development in a growing sector
  • Opportunity to work with cutting-edge automation technologies
  • Supportive team environment with real progression opportunities

Why Join Us?

Industrial automation is rapidly evolving, and this role puts you right at the centre of it—helping customers modernise, optimise, and future-proof their operations. If you enjoy combining technical expertise with commercial success, this is a role where you can genuinely make an impact.

Apply now to be part of a forward-thinking automation business driving the future of industry.

Where to Advertise Robotics Jobs in the UK (2026 Guide)

Where to advertise robotics jobs UK in 2026: the specialist boards, university channels and community routes that reach robotics, SLAM and controls talent. The candidate pool spans mechanical engineers, software developers, controls specialists, computer vision researchers and systems integrators — a multidisciplinary mix that general job boards are poorly equipped to reach. The strongest robotics candidates are often embedded in research groups, defence programmes or advanced manufacturing environments, and move between roles through specialist networks and industry events rather than mainstream platforms. This guide, published by RoboticsJobs.co.uk, covers where to advertise robotics roles in the UK in 2026, how the main platforms compare, what employers should expect to pay, and what the data says about hiring across different role types.
