Pearson Whiffin Recruitment’s Manufacturing, Engineering and Technical team are delighted to be exclusively representing a forward-thinking business with an impressive client base in their search for an Automation and Controls Engineer.

This is a rare opportunity to join an innovative market leader in automation. Our client is happy to consider candidates with varying experience levels with salaries to reflect.

Working as an Engineer within this small but established award winning business, no two days will be the same.

Duties will include:

Collaborating effectively within a close-knit, skilled team

Engaging in both on-site and field-based assignments

Serving as a customer-facing brand ambassador, representing the company with professionalism across a portfolio of prestigious B2B clients

Supporting the design and delivery of bespoke automated systems for diverse industrial applications

Installing, maintaining, and commissioning SCADA and PLC systems with precision and efficiency

Conducting diagnostics, troubleshooting, and implementing proactive solutions to minimise downtime

Configuring both hardware and software to meet detailed technical specifications

Consistently delivering exceptional service to both internal teams and external clients

Applying strong problem-solving skills to technical challenges in dynamic environments

Working confidently with both high- and low-voltage switchgear systems

To be considered for this role, you will:

Hold a degree (or equivalent qualification) in a relevant discipline such as Mechatronics, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or Robotics

Possess a solid understanding of switchgear systems

Have hands-on experience with SCADA systems and their applications

Be familiar with PLC controls, ideally with practical, real-world exposure

Bring prior experience from a relevant industry such as power generation, automation, or robotics

Demonstrate a professional and customer-focused approach when representing the company in the field

Hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a personal vehicle

Be comfortable working on-site in East Kent and travelling as required — primarily within the M25 corridor, with occasional national and international travel

Be a self-motivated, enthusiastic engineering professional with a genuine passion for digital innovation and the application of cutting-edge technology in industrial environments
