Position: Control Systems Engineer
Location: Stockport Area – Hybrid option
Salary: £45-60k + Overtime
Are you a skilled Controls Engineer looking for an exciting new challenge? We're on the lookout for a talented and enthusiastic individual to join our growing team. Be part of a dynamic group of engineers providing cutting-edge solutions for various manufacturing industries. We design, manufacture, and install complex automated systems using the latest robotics, servo, PLC, and vision systems.
Role Overview:
As a Controls Engineer, you’ll collaborate with mechanical and electrical design engineers to create, program, and commission bespoke automation machinery. You'll write PLC software from scratch, program a variety of robots, and produce essential technical documentation. Your expertise will drive continuous improvements and innovative solutions.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Customer Collaboration: Understand customer requirements and produce functional design specifications and system manuals.
  • Commissioning: Fully test and commission machinery, ensuring successful FAT & SAT.
  • Robotics Programming: Program a range of robots including ABB, KUKA, FANUC, and Yaskawa.
  • Software Design: Align software designs with customer and regulatory requirements, ensuring timely delivery of design documents.
  • Project Coordination: Communicate project status, collaborate with suppliers, and liaise with design teams to meet deadlines.
  • Technical Support: Provide on-site support, training, and participate in design reviews to improve functions and processes.
    Key Skills:
  • Proficiency with Siemens and Rockwell programming software (TIA Portal, RSLogix, WinCC).
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to travel within the UK and abroad.
  • Experience in bespoke/special purpose machine building, robotics, and automation.
  • Knowledge of vision and sensing systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, and vacuum systems.
  • Excellent time management and ability to handle pressure.
  • Understanding of UKCA/CE Technical file creation and risk assessments.
    Qualifications/Experience:
  • Degree/equivalent or higher in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering, or Computer Science. HND, HNC, BTEC.
  • Around 4 years or more industry experience.
