We are March……… the UKs leading provider of critical engineering services. Our expertise as a multi-disciplinary engineering partner across infrastructure, process and digital services has led to long term partnerships with leading organisations in everything from food and drink and utilities to high-security industries such as defence, aerospace and nuclear.

We are seeking a skilled and client-focused Electrical Proposals Engineer to join our engineering team. This role centres on providing bespoke quotations for new and existing control panels, requiring both technical expertise and strong interpersonal skills. Site visits to assess legacy projects, upgrades, and new installations will form a critical part of this role. The ideal candidate will combine technical knowledge with a customer-oriented mindset to deliver tailored proposals that reflect March's commitment to excellence

Key Responsibilities:

Quotation Development: Prepare detailed and accurate quotations for new and modified control panels, tailored to meet customer specifications and budgets.

Site Visits: Conduct site surveys to assess legacy systems, potential amendments, and requirements for new projects.

Client Collaboration: Work closely with customers to interpret requirements, present proposals, and incorporate feedback.

Technical Evaluation: Assess feasibility and technical requirements for projects, ensuring solutions are practical and compliant with industry standards.

Component Specification: Identify and recommend components, such as PLCs, relays, and sensors, that optimize system performance and cost-effectiveness.

Documentation: Produce comprehensive technical and commercial documentation to support proposals, including bills of materials (BOMs)

Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance the proposals and design processes, reduce costs, and improve cost efficiency and product reliability.

Team Coordination: Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and production teams to ensure alignment on project deliverables.

Skills and Experiences:

Experience: Proven experience in electrical engineering, proposals, or a similar role within manufacturing or industrial automation.

Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with control panel design, PLCs, VSD’s, Pneumatics and industrial communication protocols is highly desirable.

Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

IT Skills: Competence in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel; experience with ERP systems is advantageous.

Standards Awareness: Understanding of relevant standards (e.g., IEC, UL, BS EN) for electrical control systems.

Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve costing and design challenges effectively.

Specific Qualifications

Driving Licence: Full, clean UK driving licence is essential for site visits.

Qualifications: Degree, equivalent or HNC qualification in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, or a related field.
