️ Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

Location: Kirkbymoorside
Hours: 40 hours p/w Monday to Thursday
Contract Type: Permanent

🔧 Key Objectives / Primary Purpose

We are seeking a qualified Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to support our engineering client through planned and reactive maintenance. This hands-on role will ensure optimal performance of plant equipment, contributing to production efficiency and minimising downtime.

📌 Responsibilities

  • Execute statutory and preventative maintenance on a wide range of plant equipment

  • Respond swiftly to equipment breakdowns, diagnosing faults and determining solutions

  • Conduct mechanical repairs and complete equipment rebuilds when necessary

  • Manufacture and fit replacement components

  • Support machinery installations

  • Perform welding and fabrication tasks as part of maintenance activities

  • Accurately document work

  • Comply with internal safety protocols and legislative standards

    🎯 Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Previous experience as a Maintenance Engineer, Fitter, or Technician

  • Level 3 NVQ in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (preferred but not essential)

  • Strong diagnostic and fault-finding capabilities in mechanical systems

  • Experience with lathe and milling machinery (preferred)

  • Competence in welding and fabrication techniques

  • Working knowledge of automation systems and robotic machinery (desirable)

  • Familiarity with CAD or Solidworks software (advantageous)

  • Basic electrical knowledge and multiskilled aptitude (preferred)

  • Good IT literacy to manage job documentation and reporting

  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills

  • Willingness to undertake additional training and development
