Astute's Renewables Team is with a working with a well-established energy from waste business who are fully committed to contributing to a more sustainable world. They are looking to recruit an experienced Multiskilled Engineer (Electrical Bias) for their renewable energy plant in South London

The Multiskilled Engineer will play an important part in helping to ensure the plant continues to perform to a high standard and support the business with its growth and investment in sustainability. The role comes with a competitive salary, pension and company benefits.

Responsibilities and duties of the Multiskilled Engineer role

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will:

Diagnose, repair, and maintain electrical systems, including motors, PLCs, control panels, sensors, and circuits.
Carry out planned preventive maintenance (PPM) on electrical equipment.
Perform fault-finding and troubleshoot complex electrical issues in a timely manner.
Install, modify, and upgrade electrical systems and components as per specifications.
Ensure all electrical work complies with relevant regulations (e.g., IEE wiring regulations).
Work with automation systems and support PLC/HMI programming where applicable.
Support energy efficiency initiatives and monitoring systems.
Support mechanical maintenance tasks including pumps, conveyors, valves, pneumatic/hydraulic systems, bearings, and gearboxes.
Assist in breakdown repairs of mechanical components and systems.
Participate in mechanical installations and modifications.
Conduct mechanical inspections as part of the PPM schedule.

Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

Recognized electrical engineering qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3, HNC, or equivalent)
17th/18th Edition wiring regulations certified (desired)
Mechanical qualification or formal training (desired)
Full UK Driving Licence

Personal skills

The Multiskilled Engineer role would suit someone who is:

Proven experience in a similar multi-skilled engineering role in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills on electrical systems.
Basic understanding of mechanical systems and willingness to develop further.
Experience with PLCs (Siemens, Allen Bradley, Omron or similar) and industrial automation.
Problem solver with a hands-on, can-do attitude.
Able to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong attention to detail and safety conscious.
Flexible to work shifts or be on-call, if required.
