Location: North Shields

Salary: Circa £45,000 - £60,000 depending on experience

    Job Description:
    As a Production Engineer, you will play a key role in optimising manufacturing processes, specifically within thermal metal spraying applications. You will use your engineering expertise to improve efficiency, precision, and quality, ensuring production targets are met and exceeded. This is a hands-on role where you will be involved in designing solutions, managing projects, and supporting both in-house and off-site activities.

    Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing engineering support to maintain smooth production workflows.

  • Producing and updating engineering drawings, bills of materials, and technical documentation.

  • Sourcing parts, consumables, subcontractors, and new technologies.

  • Inspecting components and subcontractor work for quality compliance.

  • Designing, sourcing, and installing test equipment, as well as creating manuals and instructions.

  • Commissioning and calibrating test equipment.

  • Investigating faults, testing new products, and supporting special projects.

  • Working closely with suppliers and customers, offering technical expertise and support.

  • Supporting commercial activities, including part recognition and assisting with quotations.

  • Ensuring adherence to quality systems and maintenance schedules.

  • Participating in off-site projects both in the UK and internationally.

    Skills & Experience:

  • HND/Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)

  • Strong proficiency with SolidWorks and Onshape

  • Experience in fitting, assembly, hydraulic/pneumatic systems, and fluid dynamics

  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications

  • Knowledge of robot programming.

  • Excellent planning, organisation, and teamwork skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities

    Desirable:

  • Experience with 3D scanning and related software

  • Knowledge of robot programming (RAPID, KAREL)

  • Health & Safety qualifications (NEBOSH or equivalent)
