Job Title: Project Engineer - Industrial Automation
Location: Sheffield / Rotherham (S60)
Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 (Depending on Experience)

Overview:
We're working with a leading industrial automation specialist at the forefront of robotics, machine vision, and motion control technologies. With clients spanning the aerospace, defence, and renewable energy sectors, they are now seeking an experienced Project Engineer to lead the delivery of advanced, bespoke electromechanical systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the end-to-end delivery of complex automation and robotic systems, from concept through to installation and customer handover

Coordinate with cross-functional teams including design, controls, manufacturing, and software to ensure project milestones are met

Manage project documentation, timelines, budgets, and customer expectations

Act as the main point of contact for clients and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle

Oversee workshop activities and ensure resource planning, quality, and communication standards are upheld

Support sales engineers with technical input on proposals and quotations

Regular travel to client sites, suppliers, and installations (UK & occasional international travel required)

Experience & Skills Required:

Minimum 3 years in a Project Engineering or Project Management role within industrial automation, robotics, machinery, or advanced manufacturing
Strong understanding of technical project delivery and stakeholder management
Proven ability to manage cross-functional teams, track technical deliverables, and lead meetings with customers and suppliers
Engineering degree or equivalent background in mechanical, electrical, mechatronic, or automation-related disciplines
Familiarity with Project Management frameworks (e.g. APM, PRINCE2, PMP) is desirable
Leadership expereince needed
Hands-on knowledge of areas such as:

Motion control / drives / motors

Robotics (e.g. ABB, KUKA, FANUC)

Machine vision systems (2D / 3D)

Pneumatics, electromechanical systems, or process simulation

CE compliance and risk assessments

Desirable Competencies:

Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills

Analytical, solution-oriented mindset with strong problem-solving ability

Capable of working in a dynamic, project-led environment

Willingness to travel and stay overnight for site-based project work
