The Role

A leading infrastructure and construction firm is seeking a Project Civil Engineer (Design) to join its expanding in-house engineering design consultancy. Based in Cardiff, this permanent position offers the opportunity to work across multiple sectors, including water, heavy industrial, power, and design and build projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for the technical delivery of a portfolio of small projects or a larger project, reporting to a Senior Project Engineer.

Responsibilities

Develop and oversee outline and detailed civil engineering designs in accordance with relevant design standards.
Produce clear and well-structured design calculations, reports, drawings, and other deliverables.
Apply sound engineering principles and exploit new and advancing technology for continuous improvement.
Utilize BIM-led design processes and common structural design software tools such as STAAD Pro, FEM Analysis and Design, or Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis.
Manage the planning, direction, and control of tasks, people, and resources to deliver successful projects within agreed timeframes and budgets.
Prepare and control project budgets with a high level of commercial and contractual understanding.
Brief and coordinate the work of others to ensure timely and technically robust delivery of project scope.
Manage, build, and develop excellent customer relationships. Requirements

Degree in Civil Engineering or a suitable alternative qualification.
Chartered membership of an appropriate professional body.
Good working knowledge and experience of applicable Eurocodes and UK industry codes of practice, with the ability to mentor others in their application.
Willingness to work in other UK offices or clients’ facilities for short-term assignments, as agreed.
Ability and willingness to attend sites and agree on buildable solutions during the design and construction phases, often to tight deadlines. What’s in it for me?
