We are seeking an experienced Electrical Project Engineer to support the successful delivery of electrical installation projects across the water and utilities sectors. This role involves overseeing schemes from early design through to commissioning and handover, ensuring high standards of safety, quality, and cost control
The Company
A well-established systems integration firm specialising in industrial automation, control panel design, and process optimisation for the water and utilities sectors. With decades of experience delivering tailored electrical and control solutions, the team is known for its expertise in designing, manufacturing, and commissioning bespoke systems for complex infrastructure environments.
The Role

  • Lead electrical engineering elements from concept through to completion, coordinating closely with in-house designers, site personnel, and subcontractors.
  • Oversee the delivery of electrical works on projects such as pumping stations, chemical dosing systems, chlorination facilities, and related infrastructure.
  • Conduct and support early site surveys and investigations in collaboration with project stakeholders.
  • Develop and review project-specific health and safety documentation, including RAMS and project management plans.
  • Support procurement activities including selection and ordering of materials.
  • Actively participate in both internal and client design reviews, providing technical input and ensuring alignment with project objectives.
  • Collaborate with the design team to gather, verify, and implement all required technical information.
  • Assist in budget tracking and cost-to-complete assessments in conjunction with delivery teams.
  • Contribute to the preparation of subcontractor packages and assist in the evaluation of variation claims.
  • Work alongside the site management team to ensure all installations are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Develop and maintain project Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), ensuring records are captured throughout construction.
  • Promote and contribute to engineering innovation while maintaining compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Create, update, and manage detailed project programmes.
  • Maintain a strong focus on health, safety, and environmental compliance across all project stages.
  • Assist with the close-out of projects, including the preparation of as-built documentation, test certificates, and O&M manuals.
    About You
  • Demonstrable experience in electrical project engineering, ideally within the water or process sectors.
  • Familiarity with electrical design tools such as Trimble (Amtech), AutoCAD, or Relux is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of ATEX standards is desirable, though not essential.
  • Strong commercial awareness with a good understanding of contractual procedures.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other standard project tools.
  • Recognised electrical qualifications (e.g. NVQ Level 3, HNC/HND) or equivalent hands-on experience within the industry.
