About the client

Our client leads technological innovation by combining creative applications of emerging sensor technology, robotics, and algorithms with a focus on commercial success and an entrepreneurial spirit to solve real human challenges.

They are a team of multi-skilled individuals who bridge the gap between academic and industrial approaches: they are defined by a technical capability, not a market; but everything they do is defined and guided by a commercial objective.

They are the team behind some of the world's most advanced applications of emerging sensor technology, robotics, and algorithms. By collaborating with both academia and industry, they are uniquely able to uncover, shape and bring to life innovative ideas to solve real-world problems.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Robotics Engineer to join a growing team. This is a senior-level position suited to someone who combines deep technical knowledge with leadership ability-someone who is ready to take ownership of projects, guide others, and work directly with clients to deliver meaningful outcomes.

You'll play a pivotal role in developing advanced robotic systems, mentoring junior engineers, and ensuring the successful delivery of field-ready robotics platforms. The ideal candidate is hands-on, grounded in control theory and systems engineering, and comfortable navigating customer interactions.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the design and delivery of robotics solutions from concept to deployment, including real-time control, autonomy, and system integration.
Develop and implement control algorithms for dynamic, unstructured environments.
Translate research into robust, field-deployable systems, considering practical and operational constraints.
Act as technical lead on projects-working closely with customers to shape and meet their needs.
Mentor and support junior engineers, helping them grow technically and professionally.
Define system architectures, specify components, and lead design reviews for both software and hardware.
Coordinate field trials, testing, and deployments across UK and international sites.
Contribute to proposals and technical reporting, helping shape the future direction of our robotics work.

Excellent grasp of classical and modern control theory, state estimation, and system identification.
Proficiency in C++ and/or Python, with strong software engineering fundamentals.
Comfortable working with ROS and developing for real-time robotic systems.
Strong communication skills and ability to engage with clients and stakeholders.
Able to provide technical mentorship and guidance to early-career engineers.
Hands-on and adaptable-able to work across hardware, software, integration, and testing.

Additional Information

Please be aware that all employees undergo baseline security checks prior to joining the company, this is to meet the requirements of some of the projects.

Your Benefits

Flexible working hours (with core hours 10-4)

How to Find Hidden Robotics Jobs in the UK Using Professional Bodies like IMechE, BARA & More

The robotics industry in the UK is evolving at pace—driven by advances in automation, AI, embedded systems and mechatronics. From autonomous vehicles and surgical robots to warehouse automation and space robotics, the demand for skilled professionals is growing fast. Yet despite this demand, many of the most exciting robotics jobs in the UK are never publicly advertised. They’re filled through professional networks, technical groups, academic partnerships and early-stage collaborations. In this article, we’ll show you how to uncover these hidden robotics jobs by getting involved with key organisations such as the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), BARA (British Automation and Robot Association), UK-RAS Network, and others. You’ll learn how to use directories, special interest groups (SIGs), CPD events, and innovation projects to discover opportunities before they’re made public.

How to Get a Better Robotics Job After a Lay-Off or Redundancy

Redundancy in the robotics industry can feel like a sudden halt, particularly in such a complex, fast-evolving field. But with robotics at the heart of innovation across manufacturing, healthcare, agriculture, logistics, and defence, the UK continues to offer excellent career opportunities. Whether you're a robotics software engineer, systems integrator, mechanical design expert, or autonomous systems researcher, this guide is here to help you reset, rebrand, and relaunch your career after redundancy.

Robotics Jobs Salary Calculator 2025: Work Out Your True Worth in Seconds

Why yesterday’s pay survey is already outdated for UK robotics professionals Ask a Robotics Software Engineer fine‑tuning SLAM algorithms, a Mechatronics Engineer chasing motor‑controller jitter at 3 a.m., or a Field Robotics Specialist testing autonomous tractors in Somerset: “Am I earning what I deserve?” The honest answer changes every quarter. Retail warehouses roll out 1,000 collaborative arms overnight; battery subsidies super‑charge autonomous delivery start‑ups; & the UK government pledges £200 million for industrial robot adoption. Each shock nudges salary bands. Any salary guide printed in 2024 reads like a dusty datasheet—ignorant of the NHS surgical‑robot procurement boom, the Midlands EV‑assembly cobot surge, or the drone‑in‑dock pilots blanketing Scottish offshore wind farms. To turn guesswork into evidence, RoboticsJobs.co.uk distilled a transparent, three‑factor formula. Feed in your discipline, region, & seniority; you’ll get a realistic 2025 salary benchmark—no stale averages, no fuzzy “competitive” labels. This article unpacks the formula, spotlights six forces pushing robotics pay skyward, & sets out five practical moves to boost your market value inside ninety days.
