Mechanical & Automation Design Engineer – Bespoke Robotics & Automation

An established engineering company known for delivering tailored automation and robotics solutions to a broad range of industries is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer. This is a hands-on role at the heart of a growing automation and innovation team, with end-to-end ownership of machinery that solves real-world manufacturing problems.

With in-house fabrication, machining and electrical integration capabilities, this business delivers complete systems under one roof- ranging from high-speed ultrasonic cutting to robotics and 3D vision inspection. Their clients span sectors such as food and beverage, automotive and packaging, and each project is a one-off.

End-to-End Design Ownership: You’ll take systems from concept and CAD through to factory acceptance and commissioning.

Cross-Disciplinary Teamwork: You’ll work alongside mechanical design, electrical design, software engineers and fabricators, bringing your mechanical expertise to complex, fast-moving automation challenges.

What You’ll Do

Design bespoke automated machinery using 3D CAD

*

Create detailed component and assembly drawings for manufacture

*

Design integrated mechanical systems

*

Collaborate with controls and electrical teams to develop complete robotic and automated cells

*

Participate in build, testing, commissioning and client acceptance

What You’ll Bring

*

Mechanical engineering degree or equivalent experience in automation machinery

*

CAD proficiency (Inventor or similar)

*

Strong understanding of motion systems, materials, and manufacturing processes

*

Practical mindset and willingness to get involved on the shop floor

*

Knowledge of robotics, vision systems or ultrasonic/waterjet cutting would be a bonus
