Senior Software Engineer

We’re working with a high-integrity defense frim, delivering robust software systems for critical applications across complex industries. They’re currently looking for a Senior Software Engineer to take on a key role within a small and skilled design team.

This role involves both software development and supporting the PM. You'll play a crucial role in translating system requirements into innovative, production-quality software solutions, contributing across the software development lifecycle from architecture through to system integration and customer acceptance.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Designing and developing high-quality C++ software on Linux and Windows platforms

  • Defining architectural and detailed designs as part of broader system engineering

  • Leading, mentoring, and supervising a team of software engineers

  • Managing software compliance with internal and external standards

  • Producing clear technical documentation and presenting designs to stakeholders

  • Collaborating with hardware and firmware teams to ensure seamless integration

    What They’re Looking For:

  • Solid experience in C++ development, particularly in real-time or embedded environments

  • Proven ability to lead and manage software teams on technical projects

  • Strong understanding of structured software design and UML tools (e.g. Enterprise Architect)

  • Experience with Docker or similar containerization tools

  • Familiarity with structured testing, version control, and system validation

  • Eligibility for UK security clearance (DV or SC), with sole UK nationality

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically skilled engineer to work on challenging, meaningful systems with real-world impact. If you’re a confident C++ developer with leadership experience and a passion for engineering rigour, this could be a fantastic fit.
