Contract: Minimum 12 months contract

Are you a Software Test Manager, Configuration Manager, or an experienced Test Automation Engineer looking to work at the intersection of OT (Operational Technology) and IT systems? We're hiring for a Software Test and Configuration Manager to lead testing, integration, and configuration of industrial control systems and cloud-connected applications.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a major infrastructure programme where you'll drive the delivery of robust and secure automation systems that combine real-time technologies like PLCs with cloud services such as Microsoft Azure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and implement the Enterprise Control System (ECS) Test Strategy across development, staging, and production environments.

  • Coordinate and manage end-to-end system testing and configuration for industrial automation platforms.

  • Develop and use automated test tools and configuration scripts — Python scripting is essential.

  • Lead integration and fault resolution between PLCs, edge devices, and cloud platforms.

  • Manage software version control and configuration management systems (CMS), ensuring traceability and compliance with standards (e.g., ISO10007).

  • Support the deployment of Azure-based cloud applications connected to control systems.

  • Document test procedures, configuration baselines, and system integration workflows.

  • Act as a mentor and subject matter expert for junior engineers in automation testing, system validation, and DevOps-style configuration practices.

  • Engage and communicate with engineering teams, suppliers, and stakeholders to monitor progress and manage risks.

    What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience in Python scripting for testing, automation, and integration tasks — this is a must-have.

  • Background in developing software test strategies and policies for complex engineering environments.

  • Understanding of the software development lifecycle, including the V-model and GAMP 5 principles.

  • Hands-on experience with real-time control systems (e.g., PLCs) and cloud-based software.

  • Familiarity with SharePoint, JSON, XML, and high-level languages such as C# or JavaScript.

  • Experience with version control tools, test automation frameworks, and CMS platforms.

    Nice to Have

  • Experience in technical project management or task planning.

  • Background in industrial process automation, hydraulic systems, or production optimisation.

    Who Should Apply?

You might currently be working as a:

  • Software Test Manager

  • Test Automation Engineer (OT/IT)

  • Configuration Manager

  • Control Systems Integration Engineer

  • DevOps Engineer for Industrial Systems

  • SCADA/PLC Test Engineer

  • Cloud-Connected Automation Engineer

    Why Apply?

This is a highly collaborative, forward-thinking team environment. You’ll be empowered to influence test architecture, improve quality standards, and help deliver reliable systems that keep critical infrastructure running smoothly. If you’re passionate about automation, cloud integration, and applying your technical skills to meaningful projects — this is the role for you
