Technical Sales Support Engineer – Bedford

Location: Office-based near Bedford
Hours: 37.5 per week
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

About the Role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Technical Sales Support Engineer with a mechanical engineering bias to join a leading, globally recognised manufacturer in industrial automation and process technology.

You’ll play a pivotal role in supporting both customers and the sales team with technical product knowledge, particularly in pneumatics, automation, and thermal control solutions. The position combines problem-solving, product analysis, customer interaction, and internal collaboration to drive product performance and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day technical support via email and phone

  • Assist with product variations and special requests

  • Investigate and report on customer product returns

  • Support the development of new product proposals

  • Conduct market and competitor product research

  • Attend customer visits alongside sales for application advice

  • Deliver training and webinars on product offerings

  • Manage new product rollouts and support discontinued lines

    Required Experience & Skills:

  • Degree, HND, or HNC in Mechanical Engineering or related field

  • Excellent communication skills across email and phone

  • Logical, structured approach to solving technical problems

  • Confident presenting technical information in person and online

  • Hands-on technical testing/diagnostic experience

  • Background in an engineering or technical support environment

  • Strong time-management and multi-project coordination

    Desirable (Bonus if You Have):

  • Experience with automation systems or system design

  • Prior background in technical sales support or applications roles

  • Advanced hands-on experience in diagnostics or test environments
