Our client, a leading London-based technology and managed services provider, is hiring an Automation Engineer to help drive innovation across Service Desk operations and IT automation.

This is an opportunity to join a business that is transforming enterprise connectivity, managed IT, and cybersecurity services through a modern fibre network and fully in-house delivery model. With a strong reputation for technical excellence, operational quality, and customer experience, the organisation continues to invest heavily in automation, infrastructure, and modern service delivery.

As an Automation Engineer, you’ll play a key role in improving operational efficiency, streamlining support processes, and enhancing the end-user experience through intelligent automation and workflow optimisation.

What you’ll do

  • Collaborate with Service Desk teams to identify repetitive tasks and operational bottlenecks suitable for automation.
  • Design, develop, and deploy scalable automation workflows aligned to business goals and compliance standards.
  • Build and manage RPA solutions for ticket handling, escalations, notifications, and routine support tasks.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimise automation processes to ensure reliability, performance, and accuracy.
  • Work closely with technical and operational stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into effective automation solutions.
  • Maintain clear and structured documentation for workflows, automation architecture, and version control.
  • Support wider process improvement and IT transformation initiatives across the business.
  • Stay current with developments in automation technologies, RPA platforms, and ITSM best practices.

What we’re looking for

  • Experience working within Service Desk or IT Service Management environments.
  • Hands-on experience with RPA and automation technologies, ideally within an MSP environment.
  • Strong scripting and automation skills using PowerShell, Python, or similar technologies.
  • Ability to analyse operational processes and translate them into scalable technical solutions.
  • Experience working with Microsoft cloud technologies including Microsoft 365, Azure, and Intune.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • A proactive mindset with excellent attention to detail and a passion for continuous improvement.

Desirable experience

  • ITIL Foundation or relevant automation certifications.
  • Experience with additional automation platforms such as UiPath or Automation Anywhere.
  • Knowledge of API integrations, databases, and cloud-based services.
  • Exposure to change management and process improvement initiatives.
  • Microsoft certifications including AZ-900, MS-900, or AZ-104.

Why join?

  • Join a business investing heavily in technology, automation, and innovation across London’s enterprise infrastructure.
  • Work within a modern technical environment supporting high-performance connectivity and managed services.
  • Be part of a collaborative engineering culture with strong internal progression opportunities.
  • Competitive salary between £60,000–£70,000 plus bonus and comprehensive benefits package.
  • Strong focus on employee wellbeing, learning, and development.
  • Opportunity to contribute to a business recognised for its growth, culture, and technical excellence.
